Saturday Straggle - 26th April 2025

What with one thing and another, this is a repeat of the ride which should have taken place on the 19th but didn’t because of lack of interest and my ongoing arm-related issues. The route has been tweaked slightly and is now a little bit longer (60km) - you’re now taken down the cycle track to the Knapton underpass, rather than the ring road(!) and the route through Acomb is now much simplified.

Comedy off-road sections are available for those who want them, otherwise it’s all ‘paved’ apart from a bit of Moor Lane between Rufforth and Knapton.

For those taking the FUN option, be aware that the bit between Tadcaster and Healaugh is quite rocky in places although there’s also some amazingly good gravel road to make up for it. Refreshments and such at https://curlewfields.co.uk/ in Hessay which, all being well, should be open … other stops en route by concensus and/or necessity.

Please make sure you’ve downloaded the route to your GPS unit (if you have one) just in case the group gets split up - it’s unlikely, but you never know what might happen on the day.

9.30 start from Cycle Heaven on Fulford Road - the usual guidelines apply during the ride (and don’t panic if you see me rock up on a bike festooned with luggage - I’m doing a couple of loaded test rides in preparation for an upcoming trip)
